Collectively, it feels as though many of us are experiencing loss of some kind. The featured poem is about loss and grief. It is about when you feel ready to close one cycle in order to start a new cycle.

the goodbye

It has arrived,

the time to say goodbye.

Tears swelling then trickling down my face,

“I’ve come a long way, My Love,” I say trembling.

I feel your spiritual presence

wrapping your arms around me.

I weep,

tears cascading like a waterfall,

gently rocking and finding comfort in your embrace.

It’s time, My Love, you say.

Your smile says it all in a clear vision,

radiating the purest, most unconditional love,

though the one tear that falls from your eye

shows you didn’t want this either so many years ago.

Your smile is greater than the regret, the sorrow

and says,

Let go it’s ok

My love is always with you

It’s time for you to set your heart free

You can hold more than just me

It’s infinite

Say goodbye to what was

Welcome what is

Although, this poem is very personal to me, as it is in honor and memory of my beloved, Dennis, it expresses universal elements of loss, grief and the desire to start anew when the time feels right.
